As an insurance and reinsurance broker, we understand our responsibility to people, community and the planet.

The three pillars of ESG align perfectly and resonate with the purpose and principles of insurance – to protect, build resilience, and help create a better world.
We believe in a broader commitment – to keeping our planet safe from further harm, to helping people, businesses and communities flourish and prosper in a world at risk.

At BMS, our ESG responsibilities and commitments touch everything we do – from how we manage our offices, to our products, who we partner with, and how we recruit.
We’re proud to lead the way with our approach to ESG, and to be recognised by independent third parties as performing better than current financial services industry benchmarks.
For BMS, ESG is an ongoing journey, not a final destination – and while we may lead the field in many ESG areas, we believe there is always more to be done to mitigate new risks.

Trees planted across the world
We’re a global team made up of all levels of seniority in the organisation, representing our offices worldwide. We report directly to the Group Board and Group CEO, and meet every second month to report on all three ESG pillars. Recently, we created a shadow committee to broaden our ESG reach and engagement across the entire organisation.
BMS has created a global Inclusion and Culture Council, chaired by our Group Chief People Officer, Ali Trauttmansdorff. The Council’s primary mission is to drive meaningful progress toward building an inclusive workplace. This effort is strengthened by the outstanding contributions of our regional subcommittees, which lead targeted initiatives at a local level.
We’ve established a charitable Trust that’s registered with the UK Charities Commission. Set up to support our charitable causes, it aims to build resilience, improve lives, provide opportunity, address inequality, educate and nurture. We have a proactive grant-making process and encourage all our colleagues to mentor and give back.
At BMS, we’re committed to fostering a neuroinclusive culture where different ways of thinking are recognised, valued, and celebrated. Our Neurodiversity Employee Resource Groups champion awareness, education, and workplace support to help neurodivergent colleagues, clients, and families thrive. We’re also proud members of GAIN, supporting broader industry progress in neuroinclusion.
OUR AMBITION: ENVIRONMENT
We’ve achieved a 100% offset of all our carbon emissions since 2019 through the purchase of Carbon Credits from the Voluntary Carbon Market. Our global projects include deforestation prevention, safe water, renewable energy, carbon capture, efficient cooking stoves and tree-planting schemes across the world.
OUR AMBITION: SOCIAL
Our charitable and philanthropic focus is on youth, education and community. Our London HQ has partnered with the East London Business Alliance (ELBA). In 2024 we supported 300+ people, 50+ employees, and put in 250+ hours in volunteering locally. And we’re giving back throughout the BMS network, across the globe.
OUR AMBITION: GOVERNANCE
As a global broker in insurance and reinsurance, and as a capital markets advisory, we’re intent on driving our industry forward so that everyone in the entire supply chain, across diverse services, roles, provisions and capabilities, is aligned and adoptive of good governance principles and practices.
