BMS, the independent specialist insurance and reinsurance broker, today announces the appointment of Mike Duffy as a strategic adviser to its UK specialty business, effective January 2023. Duffy was appointed by Ian Gormley, UK CEO of BMS.
A veteran of more than 40 years, Duffy has held numerous leadership positions across a range of broking and insurance companies. Most recently, Duffy was group chief underwriting officer of Canopius, having joined the company in 2006 as group head of property underwriting. He has also worked as an underwriter for Ace Global Markets in London and as managing director at Guy Carpenter in New York.
Gormley said: “Mike has had an incredible career as a broker, underwriter and leader. To have someone of his calibre and experience guide us in these challenging market conditions will be extremely valuable for our clients. On a personal basis, Mike is someone I have traded with for 20 years and to have the opportunity to work in the same business as him is extremely exciting. He will be an excellent cultural fit for BMS.”
