Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) protects you against liability or allegations of liability arising from a negligent act, error, omission, or malpractice in your professional capacity as a counsellor, counselling therapist, or psychotherapist.
This includes complaints made to a regulatory body, claims of breach of confidentiality, defamation, or failure to provide appropriate care, as well as the legal costs of defending yourself — even if the claim is unfounded.
PLI ensures you have financial and legal support so you can focus on your clients with confidence.

When providing e-counselling services, coverage applies only if you are working within your scope of practice and complying with professional regulations in both your jurisdiction and the jurisdiction where your client or patient is located.

The CCPA policy includes 7 years of Extended Reporting Period (ERP) coverage at no extra cost, protecting you against claims from past incidents after you retire or stop practicing.

Members with the Canadian Certified Counsellor designation have access to a Pro Bono Legal Helpline upon request to the National Office.
